I designed this card to capture the powerful comfort of winter tradition, especially the kind found in classic literature.
This quote, from Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, is a beautiful glimpse into the cold, historical manor before tragedy struck. The narrator, Nelly Dean, fondly remembers the simple, vital tasks of Christmas Eve:
"...and putting my cakes in the oven, and making the house and kitchen cheerful with great fires..."
I love how it reminds us that Christmas joy often comes from the smell of baking and the cosy glow of the fire. It’s the domestic effort that truly transforms a cold house into a warm home.
This print pairs the classic literature with a grounded, historic design to share a piece of genuine, old-fashioned Yorkshire Christmas warmth with your friends this season.
