There's something so peaceful about sitting watching water ripple gently - the tranquil tinkling as it laps the edges of the lake. To be free and in the moment. So much of my art is influenced by nature and its therapeutic effects. I love nature and that of Scotland (childhood) and Scandinavia (holidays) seem to be influencing me so much right now.
Another of my inspirations come from living by the coast for 17 years. I love spending time by the sea and find it very calming. Hearing the sea meet the shore, sometimes gently, sometimes with more force, evokes memories of walks along the beach or watching storms roll in (from a safe distance). I am always in awe of Mother Nature with both her delicateness and her strength. As a child I loved collecting shells and I guess that could be my inspiration for the shell paintings I create. I also love creating seascapes too when the urge takes me.

Full description
Scandi Cottage was created shortly after my trip to Gothenburg, Sweden. I woke up dreaming of having a little cottage upon the archipelago, watching the world ebb and flow with the tide. Imagining fika by the shore got me needing to paint my dream!
This tiny painting was created on a real shell, painted in acrylics before being varnished with gloss. The painting itself is just 3 x 2.5 cm and sits in a simple white shadow frame, making the overall size 12x12cm.
Perfect for similar themed home décor, or for someone who loves Scandinavia, mountains or lake views, this painting catches the eye due to its small size.
Not recommended for rooms which are exposed to moisture such as a bathroom or laundry room.
