I have complex endometriosis which has changed my life significantly in quite a short period of time, and wanted to create a piece which could be enjoyed either as a stand-alone picture or as a symbolic depiction of what it feels like to have this disease.
I do like sunflowers but they are of course the official flower that represents endometriosis, and I wanted to make it bright and beautiful, standing upright and alone in the midst of chaos as nature attacks it, and contrasting with the dark and ominous colours that comprise everything else in the scene.

Full description
This A4 art print features my painting Sunflower in a Storm on 300 gsm card. The original painting was done in mixed media, using a combination of acrylic and water paints, water soluble wax pastels, marker pens and Sharpie.
The scene features a lone sunflower in a storm, engulfed by a thicket of weeds and thorns. More plant matter wraps around the sunflower's stem as a bolt of lightning strikes. This painting symbolises endometriosis.
