This piece was inspired by the idea of a witch’s workbench tucked deep in an old stone cottage, where bottles gather dust, herbs dry slowly and magic is made quietly, without spectacle. I wanted to capture the stillness and cluttered charm of a lived-in apothecary, where every bottle has a story and every mushroom knows a spell.
Etched into slate — a material that feels ancient and grounding — it becomes a small altar to herbal craft, folklore and the quiet art of making magic at home.

This large 33cm slate tile features an intricately engraved witch’s apothecary shelf — a scene filled with potion bottles, mushrooms, crystals and a small skull nestled among wild botanicals. Each tile is laser-etched by hand onto natural slate, allowing the raw stone texture to become part of the artwork.
Designed to be used as a statement altar piece, crystal grid surface or witchy display tile, it brings a touch of old-world magic and folklore charm to any space. Whether laid flat with ritual tools or propped upright as a feature piece, it adds immediate atmosphere and depth to a cottagecore, gothic or spiritual home.
Please note: the small rainbow light in the photo is simply a sun reflection from a window suncatcher — the final piece is beautifully etched slate without added colour.
