I grew up in Italy, where Halloween wasn’t really part of our culture. October 31st was quiet, and November 1st — Ognissanti — was solemn and reflective. As a child, I often felt something was missing — the color, playfulness, and sense of celebration I saw in American traditions.
Later, I discovered Día de los Muertos, and it deeply resonated with me. I was especially drawn to La Calavera Catrina — a symbol of beauty, strength, and the joyful remembrance of those who came before us.
This macramé piece is my way of honouring that spirit — a blend of tradition, texture, and meaning, created with love and deep respect.
