Serpentine was given its name in 1564 by Georgius Agricola after the Latin word ‘serpens’ which refers to its similarity to the patterns of a snake, or serpent. The stone’s been found in South Africa, Australia, Madagascar and Peru among other places, and it’s been discovered here in the UK too. It’s thought by those that practice meditation that serpentine is linked to the body’s Kundalini energy, a Tantric teaching that involves a vibration that sits at the very base of the spine.
While dormant, the energy is coiled up like a snake but after use of serpentine in meditation, it’s thought that a person’s inner intuition can be awakened and can act as a driving force to change their life path.

A pair of pale green serpentine stone drop earrings with gold tone wire triangle charms - these were made using gold coloured copper wire and they're finished off with a matching gold tone pair of earring hooks.
