Full description
A special one-of-a-kind bowl, lovingly made and glazed by hand in my small UK studio. The soft off-white clay body is glazed with a pale, milky finish, and sprinkled with gentle teal-green crystalline speckles that form organic “island” shapes around the rim and interior. Because it’s made in small batches (one at a time), no two speckle patterns are ever the same — each bowl has its own little personality.
I throw this on the wheel and then fire it twice: first a bisque, then a glaze-firing to bring out the glassy finish and subtle colour variations. The rim is left a little rustic and unglazed on the bottom edge, so you can feel the clay’s natural texture in your hands.
This bowl is perfect for everyday use — whether for salad, pasta, fruit, or simply as a display piece. It sits around 12 cm across (approximate — handmade clay items will always vary slightly).
As with all handmade ceramics, this piece embraces slight irregularities — minor variation in thickness, tiny glaze drips, and the occasional pinhole are part of its charm.
