Amber is the name for preserved resin from trees over 30 million years old.
It comes in various shades of yellow, orange and brown, is translucent, and frequently contains equally ancient inclusions.
It has been used in jewellery for thousands of years, but is a relatively soft substance and should be treated with care to avoid scratches.
Tiger's Eye (also called Tiger's-Eye, Tiger Eye, Tigers Eye or Tiger Iron) is a popular member of the Quartz family that is usually amber to golden-brown, with a silky lustre, and displays 'chatoyancy', or 'cat's eye'- the characteristic vertical flash when it catches the light.
In ancient Egypt, the stone was believed to be all-seeing, and was used for the eyes of deities.
Roman soldiers wore it in battle in the belief it would give them the courage and strength of a tiger.
It is still regarded as a stone of courage, strength and vitality.

Full description
Pretty drop earrings in Autumn colours of gold, tawny and golden brown.
Each earring features a 4x11mm Amber nugget, topped with a 4mm Tiger Eye bead and a 4mm Austrian crystal bicone in the colour 'topaz', separated by tiny 1.8mm gold vermeil spacers.
The beads are threaded onto gold vermeil pins and hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely birthday or anniversary present, thank you gift or a treat for yourself.
These earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
Price includes delivery within mainland UK.
