I created this ‘non-linear’ sketchbook as when I am in the studio or out and about, one type of paper doesn’t work for everything and yet, I like to build ideas and keep them all together as a working journal. So I took all the different types of paper that I had in my studio and created my own sketchbook. Now I decide what I want to do and choose the paper accordingly. To write, to draw, to stick in a found item, to trace an idea, to use colour or black and white, pen or paint. I have also found that working on ideas in a non-linear way throughout the sketchbook, interesting connections are created between the drawings, notes, paintings, collected items and images.
The idea grew and the removable square of mount board got included, to act as a backing when using a page; so what I did on one page had no impact on the others. And as when I have a working sketchbook, I am always collecting things that get included among its pages, I added a binding clip to keep everything in place.

This slim sketchbook is a work of art in itself. It’s light, easy to carry and perfect for jotting down or sketching; making notes or recording events and ideas.
The sketchbook has 22 pages all cut, folded and stitched by me using shashiko thread with a cover taken from one of my original intaglio prints on heavy somerset paper. Inside there is a mix of different papers so you can choose your page depending on what you plan to do - draw, paint, make notes, trace, stick-in something you have collected or experiment with a new medium. It’s not a sketchbook to start at the beginning and work through, but one to move around inside and make new and interesting connections as you go.
It’s ideal for your own artistic endeavours or to gift to an artist.
Inside pages: Cartridge 220gsm, watercolour 300gsm, tracing, layout, handpressed, recycled, black 140gsm and lined and plain writing paper.
A removable backing card is included.
A steel binder clip keeps the sketchbook closed and allows anything added in or collected to stay safe inside the book.

The sketchbook will be sent wrapped in recycled tissue paper in a card envelope (Re-used where possible to cut-down on waste)
