I have visited Claude Monet's garden in Giverny, France, several times. I love working with colour and the colours throughout the garden are inspiring. In fact so inspiring, my husband proposed to me near to the famous Lily Pond. I love Claude Monet's impressionist art and felt that hand dyeing these beautiful silk skeins would make a suitable homage to my favourite artist. I work from home and once I have dyed the skeins, washed out excess dyes, the skeins are set over my Aga to dry.

The skeins are made from pure Mulberry Silk fibre and have been dyed with steam fix chemical silk dyes.

'Monet's Garden' is a collection of 12 Embroidery Skeins, 100% Mulberry Silk. All the skeins are made from commercially spun yarn. One skein has been left un-dyed to give a pristine white skein. 9 skeins have been hand dyed using four dyes to give a gradient effect of colour through the skein and 2 skeins have been speckled dyed to give a unique impressionist splash of colour. Please note that as these skeins are hand dyed in small batches, there may be a slight variation in colours between batches and packs.
The collection is inspired by the colours to be found in the gardens of the Impressionist Artist, Claude Monet, at Giverny, in France. I have been lucky enough to visit the gardens several times and the gardens hold a very special place in my heart.
The gardens inspired much of Monet's art work and I hope my homage to my favourite artist, with my hand dyed embroidery skeins, will inspire you to create your own beautiful, unique piece of textile art work.
Items from the Silk Spinner's Studio are made in a cigarette smoke free home. I am usually listening to music or podcasts when working, with my beautiful Deerhound keeping me company whilst I craft. Even though I have made every effort to show my items as accurately as possible using natural or white light to take photographs, the colour accuracy of images cannot be guaranteed.
