We associate Sapphire with blue, but actually this form of the mineral Corundum can be found in all colours of the rainbow.
All except red Corundum are called Sapphire - the red version is known as Ruby.
These are untreated blue Sapphires from Africa, faceted for a subtle sparkle.
Sapphire is associated with truth, justice and divine protection.
Sapphire is a birthstone for September and Virgo.
Moonstone is also a birthstone for September and Virgo.
In Hindu mythology, moonstone was thought to be solidified moonbeams.
In ancient Rome it was linked to the Moon Goddess Diana and was thought to bring love, wealth and success.
Moonstone is one of India's traditional wedding gifts, believed to bring luck in love, so this would be perfect for a wedding, especially as the Sapphires provide 'something blue'!
When light strikes moonstone, a phenomenon called 'adularescence' can be seen, a shimmer which is thought to resemble moonlight shining through thin clouds.

Full description
Dainty gemstone necklace of alternating rows of 3mm faceted natural Sapphire and white Moonstone nuggets in varied sizes, separated by 1.8m sterling silver spacers.
The necklace graduates to 4mm white Moonstone round beads, embellished with 4x2mm natural Sapphire rondelles and sterling silver spacer beads.
The necklace fastens with a sterling silver toggle clasp.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a very special gift for a birthday, anniversary or as a treat for yourself.
Sapphire and Moonstone are birthstones for September, so this would be particularly suitable for someone born in that month.
This necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a prettyl organza gift bag.
