The character of Popeye was created originally in 1929 by Elzie Crisler Segar but was inspired by a real life person he knew called Frank ‘Rocky’ Fiegel, a local strongman and bouncer from Illinois. He had a deformed eye which lent him his name Pop-Eye. He was well known for brawling, smoking a pipe and muttering under his breath.

Full description
This Meerschaum pipe was hand sculpted from a black and white photo of the original man the character was inspired by. It was originally sculpted using sculpey clay, a mould was then made and then cast in resin. It was then hand painted lightly to give an authentic aged style.
