This doll emerged out of my need to create something purple. Simple really! I have lots of purple fabric and trim - not to mention beads, wool and old jewellery. A nod to some dramatic and colourful theatrical costumes created in the past.

OOAK Art Doll. Handmade and unique. 17” / 45cm
This one just took off as soon as I started. I thought, briefly, that there might be a huge underskirt involved, but it wasn't to be. I can almost see this one riding a circus horse - operatic (almost), showy (definitely) and strangely practical for riding... I didn't see that one coming.
If no horse is available, I would suggest a shelf to sit on.
Various fabrics and trim are used, plus small amounts of lace, beads, and jewellery. The hair is a chunky acrylic yarn. I use paints, varnish and lots of glue.
The doll is made with button-jointed hips and shoulders, allowing for some movement for sitting and moving the arms. The knees and elbows are also designed to give a small amount of movement.

Note: This is not a toy and shouldn't be given to children to play with. You cannot take it apart or brush the hair.
