I made some bowls with different woods glued together a few years ago and decided to saw through the left overs and they seemed ideal to make a decorated wing for a plane, so it seemed sensible to glue the slithers to a piece of plywood for strength and voila a nice plane. (I almost made them into a hanging mobile but it seems a bit too big for that?)

Full description
a plane I made with a hook so it can be hung, the wheels and propellor spin. I think it will make a nice hanging decoration or a childs toy, though probably not suitable for under 36 months.
