Full description

A beautiful wildlife painting of a blue jay on a branch looking over his shoulder. The image perfectly shows off the bird's gorgeous blue plumage and captures the animal in its natural environment.

The piece was 'painted' on 250gsm mixed media paper using Faber Castell's Polychromos coloured pencils. This painting technique uses a solvent which dissolves the oil based pigment in the pencil, dissolving the pencil strokes to leave a smooth painted finish. Layers of colour are built up to produce a detailed picture that provides depth and realism. The finished painting is a result of many hours of painstaking, slow and careful work. The background is painted in watercolour.

The painting which measures approx 7.3 x 10.5 inches is signed in the bottom right hand corner in a sepia coloured water based opaque paint so it is unobtrusive to the painting.

Designed by Helen Louise Sunter in Liverpool
