Welcome to Baroque Bags Boutique, all of the items for sale are one off designs...once they're gone, they're gone. The shop will be closed from Sunday 30th March till Thursday 3rd April. Last order date in time for Mother's Day Tuesday 25th March. Any orders placed after 4pm on Friday will be posted out to you on Monday.
This design was heavily influenced by Rene Lalique - A French jeweller and glassmaker and 'leading light of the Art Nouveau movement'. I was particularly interested in his 'Plique a Jour' enamelling and his development of opalescent glass used in much of his jewellery, using landscapes, trees and plants as inspiration in particular. I also liked the way he created a frame for each piece using precious metal and the addition of semi precious stones and baroque pearls. I have tried to emulate this in these designs using photographs of landscapes taken in Scotland and creating appliques inspired by some of his pendants and brooches.

Full description
A beautiful velvet bag with embroidered seascape detail inspired by the 'Plique a Jour' jewellery of Rene Lalique, a glassmaker and jewellery designer from the Art Nouveau movement. Based on one of his brooch designs, I have created a moonlit seascape using a batik fabric background with freemotion embroidered tree and reflection of moonlight on the water from the mother of pearl button moon. The outline is embroidered in silver metallic thread and finished with a baroque faux pearl. The body of the bag is navy blue velvet with a zipped top opening, measuring 14cm (51/2"). The chain strap measures 122cm (48"). The coordinating printed cotton lining has an inside pocket. The bag is 20cm (8") high and 26cm (10") at the widest. A one off design for special occasions. Free First Tracked 48 postage included
