I know from experience when knitting a lace shawl you use quite a few markers. These 10mm silver jump rings with a 4mm bicone acrylic bead fitted very tightly over the split, in a rainbow of colours are going to help.

Markers measure 10mm top to bottom and will fit up to a size 5.5mm/ US 9 needle.
