Late last year, while rummaging through some boxes in the loft, I stumbled upon a lamp I had made during a Design and Technology project in secondary school. It had a similar concept to the product you see here, but it was a much simpler design, built with far fewer resources and lower-quality components. Curious, I brought it down, dusted it off, and plugged it in.
To my surprise, several visitors and family members commented on how much they liked it and even asked where they could get one. That feedback sparked an idea: what if I revisited this old project with all the skills, experience, and resources I’ve gained since those school days?
What you see here is the result of that journey. I was so pleased with the final product—and with enough encouragement from people asking if I sold them—I decided to share it with others. And here we are!

Full description
This lamp is inspired by one of the first features you encounter in the original Super Mario Bros. (1985). It features the iconic question mark block and bricks, staples of the Mario series that have remained beloved by fans through every iteration of the franchise. The lamp is switched on and off by inserting the Super Mushroom into the top—a playful nod to one of the most recognizable power-ups in gaming history.
Each lamp is meticulously hand-assembled using custom-designed 3D-printed parts, specialist light-diffusing acrylic panels, and high-quality "no spot" LEDs with an impressive density of 480 LEDs per meter. This ensures exceptionally even lighting across the entire design. The Super Mushroom is carefully crafted with embossed details for enhanced aesthetics and is illuminated from below to highlight its iconic features.
With lighting panels on all sides, including the back, this lamp looks fantastic from every angle, making it a striking piece for any room.
