In February 2021, I was contacted by Emma, a local nurse who loves cold water swimming around Shetland (you might have seen her in Island Medics).
Emma asked me to create a hot water bottle cover with a strap for the neck like an apron, a waistband strap that was easy to attach, and if possible, a hand-warming pouch. We discussed the details, size, and materials over messenger.
I designed a traditional hot water bottle cover shape with an attached elasticated waistband and a plastic buckle, making it easy to fasten with freezing cold fingers. It also featured an adjustable neck strap, so it could be worn higher or lower on her front.
The best part was the internal cuddle fleece-lined hand-warming pouch on the front. It was the snuggliest, super soft, cosiest place to warm up her cold fingers after her dip in the frigid winter waters around Shetland.
I also added thermal insulation to the front of the hot water bottle cover, helping to keep it warm and cosy.

This listing is for a Wearable Hot Water Bottle Cover with a fleece hand warming pouch and removable cotton neck & elastic waist strap.
These covers are teal & pink hummingbird fabric and has aa ivory fleece hand warming pouch and a blue elastic strap. This option also has a fabric neck strap.
DETAILS
-Here are all the features of the cover:
-Thermal insulation quilted into the front of the cover to help keep the heat in and directed at the body
-Quilted back and front with Eco Cotton wadding (100% cotton) to help keep your hot water bottle warm as long as possible.
-Removable adjustable neck strap
-Removable adjustable waistband elastic strap for comfort elastic strap fits 120cm or 50 (can be worn on waist or hips and has enough strapstretch to be won over bulky lothing after a chilly dip in the ocean )
-Internal kangaroo pocket lined with super soft fleece to warm up your hands
-Rear envelope fold opening to easily get to the hot water bottle to empty and fill, plus a button to secure closed
-It is designed to be worn on your front to warm your core
Made from cotton, wadding, thermal insulating compressed polyester wadding, polyester fleece and soft elastic. The wearable hot water bottle cover will fit a hot water bottle up to 22cm wide and 33cm tall (most standard 2l hot water bottles). This listing does not include a hot water bottle.
