This beautiful golden sheen obsidian pendant has been made from a single glossy 8 mm bead, hand wrapped in a delicate knot work of sterling silver wire. It is finished with an 18 inch sterling silver trace chain, ready to wear or gift. For this particular listing I will instinctively choose a beautiful golden obsidian bead and your pendant will be made to order so there will be variations between the illustrative photography and the unique piece you receive. Please check all sizes carefully before ordering as I often use close up photography to show the detail of my work, these pendants are approximately 19 mm high by 10 mm wide.
Obsidian is a form of volcanic glass created when lava cools swiftly and comes in several gemstone forms including golden, silver, rainbow, snowflake, mahogany and Apache tears. These beads are the golden version of obsidian, the gold chatoyant effect is caused by patterns of gas bubbles aligning in streams as the lava cools. The effect is a mesmerising cat's eye play of light within the dark brown or black of the stones, reminiscent of light flaring in the darkness. Crystal collectors believe golden obsidian to be a highly protective stone which reduces negative influences and enhances creativity. Like the light breaking through the darkness golden obsidian is said to improve your direction and make clear your purposes in life.
