Title: "Object of Transcendence:1"
This was the first in a series of images I started to do to evoke aspects of universal cosmic creation, represented by the Ten Wisdom Goddesses, or Mahavidyas, of Indian tradition.
I began with a few sketches and colours, a few partial visions, and began to juxtapose and interweave the elements. This one has a sense of birth or of gravity; an interaction of polar energies, explosive but timeless.
After a few trials I put aside this theme and adopted a lighter, more linear and symbolic set of images as I thought these ones might be a little too dark and visceral for the intended audience.
As it turned out my second attempt was also a little too scary for some!
When one accesses a source of power bigger than one is used to, the first instinct is to run away in fear.
Personally, if I am a little un-nerved by the imagery, I reckon I may be on the right track! Too many fluffy, erotic angels in pastel colours have dulled our palettes with a wistful, Victorian, nostalgia.......
