"The English Runes"
A new study of the runes.
A great companion to 'Rune Equations' and "The English Rune Cards', this new book looks at how the runes can be linked by their sounds to constellations of related meanings.
In the English language there are still the remnants of Indo-European root words, where concepts are bundled together by associated ideas.
The sounds of language-making have physical and emotional associations, and these carry through into the core meanings of the runic alphabets.
Far from being an academic study of linguistics, this book offers playful and poetic connections between words in the English language and how the runes can be read.
My previous book, 'Rune Equations', focused on how the shape of the runes gives powerful clues to their qualities.
In 'The English Runes', the focus is on how words and sounds cluster together in symbolic groups.
For the rune reader this gives a new range of expressions and explanations with which to draw out the runes' meanings in any context.
For the rune worker who works magically, for healing or for spiritual exploration, it can expand the understanding of how Universal rune energies manifest in different states of existence.
The book is illustrated with the designs of English Rune Cards, which developed out of this work with words and language.
