Full description
Bumble bee floral explosion . Each flower was individually made in air dry clay , painted with either acrylics or water colour , each flower then had two coats of uv resin . The bumble bee was sculpted out of paper mache , wool with pva glue to create texture then dried and finished with a robust modelling paste , the legs were similar but have wire in them . The bee was then resined with two coats of uv resin . Finally to make the peice all come together it was then coated in a layer of pouring resin .
The wood it is on is a beautiful peice of oak that came out of a 16 century cottage it was a door to a unit , it cried out for a peice of art work and be reclaimed . I sanded the piece front and back and has a light wash of walnut stained finished off with an orange waxed polish .
The black boarder was painted on, then gold transfers applied , but painted over in different shades of gold , then seal in 3 layers of gloss varnish ,
I always like the back of my pieces to be neat and tidy so there is more gold on the back and details of the piece .
The sculpture weight 4.6 kg so quite heavy , but I have included some heavy duty picture hooks which are good for up to 40 kg as a pair . I have not put them on as leave the buyer to decide what is best for their house and wall .
The sculpture measures width just under 31 cm x 57 cm high. Thickness of the wood just under 3 cm but the sculpture sits approx 2 cm prominent at its thickest
Designed by Caroline Moore in Warwickshire
