I had been making a collection of cat coasters but my daughter, who's a vet, persuaded me not to leave the dog lovers out! It was hard to decide on my first four breeds, but these immediately appealed, and I love the way the character of each came through as I was making them - great fun!

Full description
A set of four hand-made mosaic coasters depicting four different dogs, including a corgi, a boxer, an airedale terrier and a crossbreed. I hand-cut each tessera, using unglazed ceramic Cinca tiles, using muted palate of greens, blues and greys for the backgrounds. The eyes and noses are made from sea glass (found on Seaham beach in Northumberland), painted with hard black acrylic paint. The grout lines are mocha brown. Each base is a thick, recycled Pilkington tile. Repurposing and recycling is very important to me: these are from a box of white seconds I found in a charity shop - the colour on the edges is a bit grey or cream in places,which doesn't show when in use, and adds to the hand-made feel. There are small cork pads at each corner to stop scratching the table surface. Approx dimensions 10cm x 10cm x 1cm.
