I hope you'll find that special thing here in the shop as I make everything by hand, welcoming the differences that these techniques bring.

I'm a fan of the brooch, so I thought I'd make some. I'm also a fan of the crow so what to put on them wasn't exactly a difficult decision. They just seem to work so well, the solid crow shape, the black and white contrasting so nicely.
Inspired by carvings in old churches, those craftspeople really knew a good bird.

Full description
I've made quite regular looking crow brooches, dark and brooding and I've also made these full of glee, crazy corvid ones. Not muscular and swaggering but full of mischief, loud and right up there.
Made by shaping a disk of porcelain, preparing the surface, painting with lovely black slip, then when the conditions are right carving into the slip and there it is. Finished off with a lovely glossy transparent glaze which makes it darker and more mysterious
No two alike, this one is 6.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high, with a safety clasp on the back.
