I knitted one of these Alan Dart 'Natural Nativities' to raffle at my Dad's Church fete years ago and I loved it so much, I started knitting more!

I've also adapted the pattern several times to make the characters smaller & have also knitting some in more traditional colours. It's fiddly to knit & takes a while, but it's worth the effort!!

I have the special edition version in my home and my sister has a smaller natural one - they look fabulous whatever colour or size.

Full description

This is a gorgeous, stylish and unusual Christmas 'Knitivity', knitted in shades of grey, black and white. The only bright colour is the gift of Gold. All they key players are present - Mary & Joseph, the Baby Jesus, the 3 Kings and the Shepherds with their flock (well, two of the sheep anyway!). I have only knitted two of these, so they are very special indeed.

I didn't design the basic pattern, it's knitted from a pattern by the fabulous Alan Dart, but I have adapted it, to make it unique, by changing the costumes and stitching everything together rather than using glue which may decay over time.

The characters are about 14 cm tall with the animals about 7cm. This will make a lovely window sill decoration for Christmas. Not suitable as a toy due to the pipe cleaner legs & crooks, although everything pointy is bent over & carefully covered.
