My Holly Dolly brooches take inspiration from a Make do and Mend pattern in a 1940s magazine showing you how to cheer up an outfit with a "Pin on Girl" using fabric and wool scraps to make a "pretty girl for your lapel"

A twist on a 1940s Make do and Mend idea when clothing was scarce and jewellery expensive many Women turned to homemade accessories, button necklaces electrical wire brooches etc they also used every scrap of fabric available ,Making brooches from even the tiniest scrap of fabric. My Holly Dolly brooches take inspiration from a pattern in a 1940s magazine that showed you how to cheer up your outfit with a “pin on Girl” using fabric and wool scraps to make a "Pretty girl for your lapel"! This festive Holly dolly brooch is made from vintage style Christmas fabric with felt holly leaves and metal jingle bells, she has an embroidered face and needle felted hair, she has a brooch pin to keep her secure.
