I travelled to Mexico and Belize, the former of which has Quetzals in the wild in the southern regions. I was scheduled to go to Guatemala but as is the way with backpacking we went in a different direction. I loved my time travelling around Central America but did not get to see a resplendent quetzal in the wild. Shortly after I returned a nature documentary was on telly showing the quetzals! David Attenborough had fixed it for me! I fell in love with the sweet, colourful birds and when I saw both parents tending eagerly to their bright turquoise jewel like egg I knew I wished to illustrate the love!

Hand illustrated original design featuring two Resplendent Quetzals sitting either side of their precious turquoise egg.
Quetzals are the national bird of Guatemala and are known for their jewel like colours and long tail feathers that flutter in the wind. Their main diet consists of avocados so the clock features the little family surrounded by lush avocado greenery.
This clock is made from FSC certified sustainable mdf, printed vinyl with ornate metal hands and a quartz mechanism requiring a single AA battery (not included).
25cm diameter.
Made in the UK by a small collective of artists.
