Full description

This is a my unique original sketch of historical image in high quality pencil.

This sketch captures a historical moment at Castlegate, Aberdeen, in the early 20th century.

At that time, the area was a major hub for the city's tram network, which provided essential public transport until the trams were phased out in the 1950s.

At the upper end of Castlegate stands The Salvation Army Citadel, an effective castellated mansion, on the site of the medieval Aberdeen Castle. Castlegate was named after the site of the castle gates until their destruction in 1308.

At the center stands the statue of George Gordon, 5th Duke of Gordon, erected in 1832 to commemorate his contributions to both military and public life. This statue remained there for over a century before being relocated to Golden Square in 1952.

This sketch with frame and the size is 20cm square and the image size is 18cm square.
