This is a printing from my unique original sketch of historical image in high quality pencil. I sketched this place called Castlegate in Aberdeen. You can see the Gloucester Hotel located on Union Street. This hotel was established in the 19th century, was a significant part of Aberdeen's social scene and often mentioned in various city histories. By the 1990's,however the building had been repurposed.

This printing is presented on a heavy weight drawing paper and adheres to a formboard with colourless fixative spray with anti UV protection. Image size 18cm square with a backing board and protected in a clear cellophane bag.

Full description

This is a printing from my unique original sketch of historical image in high quality pencil.

This sketch captures a historical moment at Castlegate, Aberdeen, in the early 20th century.

At that time, the area was a major hub for the city's tram network, which provided essential public transport until the trams were phased out in the 1950s.

At the upper end of Castlegate stands The Salvation Army Citadel, an effective castellated mansion, on the site of the medieval Aberdeen Castle. Castlegate was named after the site of the castle gates until their destruction in 1308.

At the center stands the statue of George Gordon, 5th Duke of Gordon, erected in 1832 to commemorate his contributions to both military and public life. This statue remained there for over a century before being relocated to Golden Square in 1952.

This printing is presented on a 250gsm acid free linen fabric paper and adheres to a acid free 5mm formboard with colourless fixative spray with anti UV protection. Image size 18cm square with a backing board and protected in a clear cellophane bag.
