This fused glass decorative dish in vivid marigold yellow will certainly add a pop of colour to your home.
Created using reactive art glasses and silver foil, the process involves multiple kiln-firings. First, little squares of art glass in shades of yellow, cream and turquoise are kiln-fused to form circular nuggets. These are then layered with circles of 98% pure silver foil onto a base of opaque yellow glass and the piece is kiln-fused. The reactive properties of the glass 'fume' with the silver foil during the fusing process giving the striking banded effect which looks a little like slices of agate. Once cooled, the edges are smoothed by hand, and the piece goes back into the kiln to be fire polished. Finally, a fourth firing is required, over a mould, to give the finished shape.
The dish measures 19 x 12cm, and is gently curved to stand a maximum of 3.5cm high. It has little rubber bumpers affixed to the bottom to protect your surface. It can be wiped clean and polished with a soft cloth.
