I pass this beautiful building so many times and recently had the pleasure of exhibiting some of my artwork inside its small chapel. If you ever get the chance do visit. It's foundations are original 13th century and the inside is magnificent. Stands on the original stone bridge across from the Hepworth Gallery and Tileyard North.

A needle felt wool painting of The Chantry Chapel of St Mary the Virgin. Embellished with hand embroidery.
The chapel was built during the 1300 on Wakefield's stone bridge crossing the River Calder. It is one of only three remaining Chantry Chapels in the country. It has been modified over the years and a new bridge over the river was built leaving the old medieval bridge with the Chapel in place.
This is my interpretation of the view from one side of the river looking towards Wakefield with the Cathedral spire in the distance.
I've gently jabbed wool fibres onto a piece of vintage blanket to create the background for this art work. Hand embroidery and wool curls add texture.
This art work is displayed in a new Ikea white wood frame without glass. The frame measures 26 x 20 cm. The artwork measures 18 x 13 cm.
Can be hung or stood.
