Item details

I will endeavour to post within 24 hours, but items may still take a long time to reach you due to the pressure under which the Post Office is working. Unfortunately I will no longer be able to send items to Northern Ireland.
Actual colours may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours and that everyone sees these colours differently. Therefore I cannot guarantee that the colour you see accurately portrays the true colour of the product.

I was thinking of the coming lockdown Christmas and idly humming the Twelve Days, when it occurred to me that I had some Afghan fabric in my stash. It took me about six weeks to complete this shawl.

Full description

'The Twelve Days of Christmas' is a true heirloom piece. It is a soft cream acrylic Afghan shawl, cot blanket or wall-hanging, with fringed edges. Of all the shawls I have designed and hand-made so far, I think this is among my favourites. Each square covers one of the twelve days and is carefully designed and worked by me. The birds are all as true to life as possible within the limitations of cross-stitch. The five gold rings are worked with a metallic thread. The order of the days at the end of the song varies, and I chose to go with the majority of the versions, the one we used to sing at home when I was a child. The work measures 24" (60cm.) by 38" (96cm.) approximately within the fringe, and is colour-fast and hand-washable in cool water.
