Here we are introducing Oakley, a stately magnet made by Randal. He used both woodturning and sawn techniques. First he made a rotund Oakley, then by carefully sawing through, the “tiger marks” or “medullary ray flecking” in this piece of oak were made visible. Owls are known as a symbol of Athena, goddess of wisdom. They are reputed to reflect the light of the moon. Oakley measures approximately 10 cm high and 4.5 cm wide.
