I have had this in my supplies stock since I don't know when!
It dates from around 1950 I believe and was taken from an unloved string of good pearls, which I have long since used in my designs.
This is a gorgeous large flower clasp, set with clear paste stones. There are 7 marquise cut stones as petals and a single round cut stone in the centre. The flower is concave, so looks more realistic. It is designed to have one strand of pearls attached, but could take more.
I think this would make a fabulous centre piece for a bracelet - very sparkly and special.
The stones are clear in colour, although my pics make them look yellowish. They have a miligrain edging in a silver coloured metal.
The clasp is in good working order and the stones are set firmly in their settings. It has the original brass(?) rings where the pearls joined the necklace on each side of the clasp. These can be removed.
I NEVER clean these vintage clasps until I am ready to use them. This one could do with a clean, but I know many people prefer vintage items with their original patina. Any greenish residue on the clasp will come off - it is from the brass fitments that have long been removed.
The flower clasp measures 23mm in diameter approx.
