Full description
A truly beautiful combination of wood and stained glass make this piece extra special. It's not just for sailing enthusiasts but anyone who enjoys watching the sail boats on the seas or lakes. I love how the solder lines add a pleasing geometric design.
Using the Tiffany technique to create the stained glass with each piece of glass is hand cut, wrapped in copper foil and hand soldered together. Two brass rods have been soldered on each end ready for fitting into the wood. The solder has been treated with a black patina which defines the colours and shapes. It is then washed, waxed and polished.
The wood is a beautiful chunk of solid oak with a live edge that works perfectly with the water theme. The wood has been ethically sourced from a small local sawmill business who only deals with naturally felled trees. It has been sanded and treated with Osmo oil which highlights the grain of the wood.
The stained glass section is supplied as removeable from the wood base for easy transportation and neatly slots into the wood base holes.
