Full description
Sometimes you can spend ages working out what a particular piece of wood will be ideal for. This is not one of them. With a naturally formed knot hole and rounded end it was absolutely ideal as a serving platter. All I had to do was flatten and sand the board, brand it and finish it with a food safe mineral oil finish.
It is a hefty 710mm x 300mm and a chunky 30mm thick, ideal for a family gathering or a party platter.
The wood came from a tree donated to us by a local home owner who needed to fell the tree to make way for a house extension. I milled and seasoned the wood and have recently started kiln drying a few of the smaller pieces.
