Item details

Inspired by the Alice in Wonderland story but also by the fate of the last surviving real (stuffed) specimen which was in the Ashmolean museum in Oxford. Sadly it was determined to be too moth-eaten by a zealous museum assistant and thrown on a fire ! The mistake was discovered too late and only the feet and beak were recovered.
The dodo lived only on Madagascar but was hunted to extinction in the 17th century by Dutch explorers .
