Full description
The inspiration for this small lavender pillow was the button that I made a couple of years ago as part if the 100 day challenge.
For the body of the pillow I used a small piece of the same fabric that I'd used to create the button and the rest was made from a hand-dyed linen fabric.
On the join of the two fabrics on the front of the pillow, I mirrored the blanket stitch on the button as well as adding some pink and green trim.
For further decoration, I used a piece of whitework from a damaged vintage tablecloth and i stitched it onto the patterned fabric. I also high-lighted the leaves and flowers with back-stitch in vintage Peri Lustra thread and i used the same type of thread to chain-stitch around the whole piece of whitework.
Next I stitched the pillow together and filled it with a mixture of wool stuffing and dried English lavender.
Finally, I attached the button with thread, through the pillow with a bow on the back, If you wish to, the button could be removed by untying the thread and used elsewhere.
The pillow measures 13.5 cm (5.25in) square.
