This original wave posy holder has been handcrafted from copper which has been patinated with an open flame to produce the most incredible natural colours - turquoise, fuchsia pink, sapphire blue and gold.
The colours have been fixed so they will not tarnish or oxidise with time.
There are 2 sterling silver bands on the back of the wave shaped brooch to contain a small plastic tube.This can hold a small amount of water or dampened tissue for a fresh floral arrangement
The idea of the posy holder goes back to Victorian times, when ladies carried one for their tussy mussies (tiny arrangements of fresh flowers and herbs) which they believed helped in warding off street smells and diseases.
I think the idea of a posy holder is charming, and I wanted to design some in a modern style.
Please note the flowers are not included.
It would make a fantastic gift for an anniversary, especially the 7th where the symbol is copper.
It would also be a stylish accessory for a Wedding suit or mother of the bride outfit.
