A solid Sterling Silver posy holder hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay office and showing my unique maker's stamp (SE-J). This is completely unique, and made to my own design
The idea of a posy holder, goes right back to Victorian times when a lady might wear or carry a little vase containing a fragrant small flower arrangement to ward off disease and mask unpleasant street smells. Later in the 19th and early 20th centuries they were used to show off flowers given by courting gentlemen.
They were usually made from silver or other metal, and were quite elaborate in style with filigree patterns and curved shapes.
I think the idea is charming, so I set out to design a posy holder of contemporary style - a real statement and sure to make the wearer feel and look very special
It could be a very elegant keepsake from a Wedding, or just a beautiful, original accessory for both men and women.
It could be given as a Silver Wedding Anniversary gift or for a special birthday along with some flowers - such a thoughtful, exquisite gift!
It is 4" tall from point to point and 1.5" at its widest.
It attaches to clothing by a standard silver brooch pin, and a little pad is included to place at the back of the lapel (or wherever the brooch is pinned) to give more support.
