Full description
Part of my landscapes series, this fused glass wall art depicts Glastonbury Tor in shades of purple and violet. Some of the glass used is irridescent so it shines golden and glimmers in the light. The style is semi-abstract, giving an impression of the landscape rather than a lifelike depiction. My method is to take lots of small pieces of glass and arrange them in a slightly haphaward way, bringing the image together gradually like a patchwork. Glass fragments and powders are used to fill any gaps, enhancing the effect. The piece is then fired to over 800 degrees celcius, fusing together all the pieces into one solid picture.
The artwork is mounted in a box frame which allows light to shine through and show off the coloured glass at its best.
