I see Arran every morning I drive to my work. On a crisp bright day it is clearly visible from the carpark at the top of the hill above Galston. If I have got time I will pull over and just look. It is a stunning sight to see!
I am very pleased with how this picture has turned out. The colours are rich and deep, and with it being glass it shimmers as you pass by.

'Simplistic, subtle, and visually stunning'
'ISLE OF ARRAN' is a subtle mix of swirling shades of white/blue, with the island contrasted in black. The actual isle has been very carefully painted using finely ground powdered glass. The foreground is vanilla coloured glass frit set against the streaky blueness of the sea. A tiny bit of bling has been added by scattering little sections of dichroic glass amongst the sand and rocks. Once the picture was completed it was then fused in my kiln at 1400 where all sections became one!
'ISLE OF ARRAN' took me approximately6 hours to make. A lot of time was spent just stepping back from the picture to see how each piece of glass settled into the final composition.
I am pleased with the final picture. It has a kind of tranquil soft quality to it.
