Why choose Wool?

- It comes from sheep, making it 100% natural
- As long as sheep have grass to eat, they will produce a fleece, which makes wool a renewable fibre
- Because of this, farmers work to protect the environment, to try to make sure the wool industry is sustainable and still around for the future
- Wool can decompose in a short amount of time when it has come to the end of its life as a product, unlike synthetics
- Wool is both good at keeping you warm in colder weather, but also at keeping you cool on the warmer days too, because it is breathable
- Picks up less dust than other fabrics
- In some cases, items can be machine washed
- Not known to cause any allergies
- Naturally flame retardant and has a very high ignition threshold, does not melt and stick to skin causing burns
- A high level of UV protection, much higher than synthetics

Full description

A handwoven tartan scarf, made from 100% fine Merino wool. This scarf was woven on a Table Loom, meaning everything is done entirely by hand, and then finishing includes: hemstitching, twisting the tassels, washing, attaching the label and pressing.

Although this scarf does not look like a "traditional" tartan, it is because the warp is made up of a repeating pattern of colours all the way across - known as a sett-, and this is also repeated in the weft, as a tartan usually is. There are also sections of a repeated stripe done with both the orange and the burgundy to break up the tartan to stop it looking overly busy.

The collection this scarf is from is based on exploring people's personalities, through their opinions, likes, dislikes and life experiences, then analysing this information through colour and pattern.

Width: 10 Inches

Length: 66.5 Inches

Please note the length measurement includes the tassels.

This scarf is called: Katie

Designed by Alice in Harlow
