Decorative Wood House Ornament/Quirky Wood House.
This is a piece of upcycled wood.
I thought this piece of wood was wonderful; full of character, a little bit battered in parts, but with a good grain.
You can see the battered bits in the photographs.
You will also notice in the photographs that the back is darker than the front of the house, another characteristic I wanted to keep.
I decided to work on it as it is; I really wanted to keep the character of the wood.
This piece of wood is now quite a quirky little house. The drawing is all the way round the wood with a front and a back door.
Each piece of wood I work on is different; unique. I only work on one piece of wood at a time. The drawings are always freestyle so each wood house will always be different. The doors and windows are placed according to the shape of the wood and it's characteristics; dents, lumps and bumps!
The house is sealed and varnished. The beauty of this little house is that it requires very little care, just a dust! If you knock it over, or it gets dented, it will just add a little more character to the piece! This is probably one of the easiest ornaments to take care of.
