Canoeing on the river Waveney, the border between Suffolk and Norfolk, I come across all sorts of plants and creatures. There's a whole society dedicated to most of these, certainly to dragonfly, where people know every detail and all about each thing I discover and look up. That in itself is awesome and inspiring. I just enjoy trying to find out what it is I've seen and revisiting the moment with an art-based response. (Order as many as you like, because I love making them!)

Full description
The origami dragonfly is made using Japanese chiyogami paper. It's a prized ornate paper, made with meaningful designs and intense pigments. Its origins date back to the Heian period (710-794) when the aristocracy sent poems to friends or lovers to communicate to each other instead of sending plain letters.
This dragonfly design was inspired by the Norfolk hawkers we sometimes spot flying in the Waveney valley. They are keen on a plant called water soldier. The one pictured here mistakenly has 5 petals instead of the usual 3! All current stock are correct!
