Rock Crystal, or White Quartz is the semi-precious alternative to Diamond as the April Birthstone, while Bloodstone is the traditional Zodiac stone for Aries (March 22 - April 20).
Crackle Quartz is white Quartz that has been heat-treated then water-cooled to produce a network of tiny fractures.
The result is a beautifully sparkly stone that looks like crushed ice.
'Quartz' comes fro the Greek for ice - the ancient Greeks believed it was ice that was so deeply frozen it couldn't melt.
In the middle ages, clairvoyants used balls of clear Quartz to foresee the future,
Worn as jewellery it is believed to bring clarity and perspective.
Bloodstone is a dark green form of Chalcedony that is flecked with occasional spots of iron oxide that resembles dried blood.
Ancient warriors believed it would staunch wounds, and bring courage and protection in battle.
Today it is associated with spring, new life, new beginnings and new experiences.
