The plastic bags I've been using for bread are getting tatty and unhygienic. I don't want to buy more and so a new solution is necessary.

We like bread and often buy uncut loaves in the supermarket. They come in a perforated bag which is designed for freshly baked loaves. They are hygienic and allow the fresh loaf to cool and breathe. The crust remains crisp and the inside soft. That is until you cut into the loaf … then what? I used to buy plastic bags to store bread as they usually do a good job, but I’m trying to live more sustainably, using less plastic. Hence I’ve developed these bread bags.
Simple cloth bags work in a similar way to the perforated plastic ones. However our bread bags are lined with PUL – this is a soft fabric, laminated with a thin layer of plastic. It is breathable and food safe. The small amount of plastic means that food is less likely to dry out.. Tabs and poppers fasten the bag and allow you to fold it according to the size of your loaf, whilst creating a good seal.
These bags are neatly sewn with seams which won’t trap crumbs. The bag can be shaken out and wiped clean or, when necessary, hand or machine washed and air dried.
What’s not to like if you’re a bread-eater?
Available in two sizes:
MEDIUM: 25 x 40cm - ideal for most artisan loaves, smaller bloomers and sandwich loaves.
LARGE: 27 x 50cm - should accommodate larger sandwich loaves and bloomers.
The popper fastening can be folded down when the loaf is smaller or partially used. These are made from a cotton-mix, linen-look fabric decorated with croissants, lined with yellow PUL. Other fabrics are available
