Weird Gothic Fairy Moon House Shaped Trinket Box
A quirky box with a pull out compartment, this box would be perfect as a tealight candle holder (battery only as this box is wood)
The box is decoupaged, gilded, varnished, hand painted, it has a smiling moon hand crafted from clay on the back,this has been painted black then gilded with gold, it has raised flowers and butterflies and swallows created using a special artist modelling paste which give a raised textured motif. These have also been finished with gold gilt over black paste.
The front part of the box is a very dark almost maroon red with gold motif butterflies. the roof has a hand made chimney printed out on a 3d printer, also black and gilded
One side of the roof has a fairy picture which is decoupaged and then given a craquelure glaze finish which gives very fiine cracks,giving the effect of an old master painting using a special technique which I just love using.
The opposite side of the roof has the chimney and a swallow motif also in black with gold gilt.
It has been varnished and then I have added 4 antique effect feet.
The box is like a drawer, the inside pulls out and you can add jewellery or place a battery tealight inside or fairy lights for a magical effect
A lovely quirky design with a hint of magic and whimsy about it!
