Full description

This Ogham rune pendant is the iodhadh symbol and is associated with the Yew tree.

Ogham is an early medieval alphabet used primarily to write the early Irish language. Each Ogham corresponds with a tree and can have various metaphorical and spiritual meanings.

The wood of the Yew tree is very hard and resistant to water damage, so it was popular in the making of longbows in England. No tree is more associated with the history and legends of Great Britain than the Yew. Before Christianity was introduced it was a sacred tree favoured by the Druids, who built their temples near these trees a custom followed by the early Christians.

Every Ogham rune pendant I make is different and never repeated. This iodhadh measures 3.5 cm tall, 2.3cm wide and approx 2mm deep. It's made from clay (ceramic) and fired to stoneware. The pendant is fitted with 3 rings and comes with a choice of necklace material and necklace length. This particular rune pendant has a rustic finish and has blue and green tones.

An optional gift service (select gift wrap) provides gift wrapping, your personalised message, and presentation in a high-quality jewellery box ready for gift giving (Black leatherette covering with matching velvet flat pendant pad. White satin top liner. Dimensions: 62 x 67 x 28 mm).
